Thursday 16 July
A big day for the Banjo’s Odyssey team - after months of research, test drives and negotiations, we finally got to pick up our new towing vehicle… a big black shiny GWM Cannon Ultra.
We woke to a sunny morning and pottered around, watched England 🏴 lose to Argentina 🇦🇷 (sadness 😢) then headed into Papanui (where the pool was open) so Louis could swim while I ticked off some chores on my To Do List. A quick donburi lunch at the mall then we set off for CMG on Montreal St.
Our new baby was waiting for us there - all polished and fabulous and presented with a huge pink bow 🎀!
Louis was super excited - they’d ironed out the few dings, polished out the few scratches and the Ute was looking spic & span and good as new. Sadly I wasn’t able to keep the bow, but after a few signatures (money had already been transferred), a ride round to the workshop on a golf cart, with an introduction to the team there, and handshakes all round with Jake, we were the proud owners of a new (to us) Ute! Thank you Jake, it has been a pleasure doing business with you! 🖤🎀
Louis had the honour of driving it whilst I took the Pajero and we headed back to Papanui for some party things for me and car things for Louis. I loved the resigned look on the face of the dog in the ute next to me at the Northlink Shopping Centre 🤎! From here we headed back to Banjo in Kaiapoi and a beautiful peach pink sunset.
Ella joined us to inspect the new beast and for dinner in Banjo as Josh was out for the evening. She brought her own dinner as she didn't fancy my fruity chicken korma curry! After she'd left, we did some admin & watched the first Downton Abbey movie (which I’d largely forgotten) before draining the pipes and turning off the water pump as it was already negative temperatures before we fell into bed!
