Rainy day in Cromwell with our furry friends

Wednesday 26 August
Central Otago is known for its dry climate… yeah, right! It started raining overnight and just never stopped.
Messaged Ella to wish her happy birthday - magically her card had arrived which we’d only sent on Monday (bad parents!)
Ania and Gareth had a few pre-departure chores to sort and Gareth also took us out on a tiki tour of local walks for the dogs before we parked up at the pine plantation dog park and took them for a wet walk out there. Mokka was very excited by the car trip… she knew we’d find somewhere to walk eventually, she whispered in my ear!
Mokka is full of energy, sprints everywhere and loves chasing pine cones & sticks all over the place. Floyd is probably a centenarian in dog years and trundles along behind picking up and delivering wee-mails as he goes! Mokka is very well trained and you can say “place” and point and she’ll stand & pose on a tree stump or a rock or a log until you ask her to “break”... next test is whether she will do the same for us!
Back at “home” the dogs and puss chilled while we checked that all our queries had been answered and all the handover notes explained, then a quick selfie with all the tribe before Ania & Gareth were off to the airport for their flight to Perth and we were left in charge. Love that we are all matchy matchy in greens and greys - so much so that Puss is almost entirely camouflaged on Ania's lap.

The rain just kept on coming so we hunkered down for a bit - Mokka took up residence on the Lazy-boy and Floyd warmed himself in front of the roaring woodburner. Puss decided Louis needed some assistance with his iPad 😆
Late afternoon, after a siesta for Louis and Puss, we walked into town to get some grocery shopping and check out the op shop. Nothing for me at the op shop but Louis got some "Pensioner Bread" - I presume it was made out of real pensioners? 😉
Came back cold & wet so stayed home with our furry friends for the remainder of the day, had pork chops for dinner and watched "Rivals" S1 to prep for the not so new season - Louis never watched it last time and I’d forgotten heaps of it… have to say it is so much fun and a real guilty pleasure!
