Happy Anniversary to us!

Sunday 8 March

After a big day of singing & dancing in the belated summer sun, Sunday was a whole lot quieter! We woke up & wished each other “Happy anniversary!”, marking 29 years together… not bad eh?!

Packed up & left Lincoln at around 11ish, heading up to Kaiapoi to one of our favourite POPs - Treehouse Retreat. Settled in and promptly had a leftovers lunch then a big siesta - getting old! 😴

Took a stroll into Sovereign Palms to stretch our legs and when we got back John was catching up with his campers so we had a lovely chat, then his wife Louise swung by and we finally got to meet her after almost a year of regular visits to this POP. She runs a relaxation spa out of their property and is often abroad leading retreats so somehow we always miss her! Had a lovely gossip about festivals and bands and agreed to catch up round the campfire later.

Ella & Josh joined us for a First Table anniversary dinner at CBK in Kaiapoi - calamari, pork belly bites, stone grill, burger & nasi goreng. Gotta love the cheeky cow loo lid in the ladies!

Great anniversary celebration! Came back to Treehouse Retreat with marshmallows and lit a fire in the fire pit 🔥 Toasted marshmallows and reminisced about Ella & Josh’s wedding and ours then they went home and John, Louise & Rango the dog came to join us as the embers glowed and the stars came out above. What a perfect end to a chill day. 🥰

LEFT - 8 March 1997 at Great Fosters in Surrey - Louis still complains that we never got to sample the fabulous profiteroles from our croquembouche wedding cake because we were too busy dancing the night away!

RIGHT - 26 November 2022 at the Domain in Matarangi - a lovely old fella in a house overlooking the Domain offered his balcony for the photographer to get an elevated group shot - what a wonderful gesture!
