Final Fernandi Farewell Feast!

Wednesday 11 March
Always a joy waking up to the thundering hoof beats of the racehorses on their morning gallops at PharLap. Glorious sunrise as I popped my head out of Banjo at around 7.15am, then fifteen minutes later, Abby, Harley & I set off to walk Jez to work and take a sneaky detour back via U-Bake to get Louis a giant croissant š„ for breakfast and half a dozen hot cross buns just because! Should have put my Fitbit on Harley as he was dancing around like a maniac and probably went twice as far as the rest of us - he's usually such a good lad, but today he really had ants in his pants!
Sat & watched the horses exercising as we ate our carb laden breakfast, and Harley joined us on the mat for much of the morning, basking in the autumn sun. Louis went for a swim mid-morning and I amused myself with a trip to SPCA op shop (found an outfit for Selwyn Sounds 2027 but did NOT buy it!) then a return visit to the Caroline Bay Aviary⦠a little disappointing as most of the exotic birds were snoozing!
The cockatiels and lorikeets were out and about but the ring-necked and nanday parakeets were having a lovely siesta.
Laundry time after lunch then experimented with line drying, attaching my camping clothes line between the bike rack and the Pajero and hoping the pegs would hold up against the wild wind!
Harley took advantage of Abby working in the Moho by hopping up and snoozing in her comfy moon chair! I took advantage of her whizzing off to the racecourse toilets and hopped into the moho to stash a set of CD Roms entitled "Resolving Conflict in your Marriage" in a cupboard where we hoped they would not find them for a while - but it only took 3 days unfortunately!!!

Late afternoon the Fernandi rolled in from their Milford Track walk, via a quick sidetrip to Dunedin. Few drinkies in the Fernandivan then off to dinner at Koji Teppanyaki & Grill to mark their penultimate night down south. Amazing Japanese restaurant with an all you can eat, freshly catered menu, for $56 per person.
Youād better believe we each consumed more like $100 worth of tepanyaki, gyozas, sushi , sashimi, tempura and more⦠it was fabulous food and such a fun last evening together for a while š„°
