Friday 6 March
Such a beautiful morning - currently enjoying a late burst of summer it seems.
Took advantage of being on power & water to wash & blow dry my hair before we left Peski, one of the last to leave, heading to SH1 and north the Ōtautahi Christchurch.
We got diverted in the long straight roads of the Canterbury Plains, so I decided these easy & quiet byways were ideal for my next Banjo driving experience so we swapped seats and I piloted us about 30km out towards the coast. Couldn’t quite face the traffic on SH1 so Louis took over again and drove us on to Ashburton where we paused for lunch and a real fruit ice cream then on to NZMCA Weedons where we dropped Banjo & headed to Rolleston so Louis could swim while I did the laundry and shopped for Saturday’s picnic.
Saddled up Banjo again and cruised over to Lincoln to park up for tomorrow’s concert. Accidentally queue jumped as we turned into the road for the school/parking area at 3.59pm, with gates opening at 4pm - there were a bunch of caravans and mohos pulled over onto the verge waiting, but we didn't have time to react and pull in at the corrner so we just cruised along slowly and ended up almost at the front of the queue as the clock clicked over to 4pm - oops!
Huge number of caravans & mohos - but only one other Snowy. Dined on venison sausages to the distant sounds of Ronan Keating doing his sound check then turned in early as the parties continued around us! The sunset was gorgeeous and the clear skies & stars over head boded well for tomorrow's big day.
