Changing our Itinerary for another Rain Watch

Monday 2 February
Started the day with a shock - as a dedicated Wordler with a streak of over a year and player since pre-NY Times days, I was horrified to find they had reused a word… and not just any word, but the first ever Wordle! That’s just not on!!!

With a nasty weather watch in place for the West Coast and the Southern Alps, we hit the road early and convoyed down to Haast through cloud & wind & rain.
At Haast I hopped in with Nickie & Russ and Louis went ahead with Banjo - it was really odd following on behind our home on wheels!
The journey through the pass was again grey & wet so after a brief visit to Roaring Billy Falls (through a cool rainforest with epiphyte covered trees and a wonderful tree that took me back to my favourite childhood book "I am a Bunny") and a quick stop at Cameron Flat, we decided to call it quits and push through to Wānaka where we set up camp at Albert Town, an old favourite spot of ours. Got a fairly flat spot not far back from the river and grabbed a late lunch before Louis had a snooze, Russ had a meeting and Nickie & I did the laundry & a spot of op shopping. Liquid Laundromat was busy, busy and full of a United Nations of international travellers all talking away in different European languages… like working at Amex in the 90s!!!
Boys had a lovely walk along the Clutha then we BBQed pork chops for dinner, received assorted duck guests then turned in for an early night.
Albert Town was heaving on my bedtime run to the toilet block - hundreds of campers, cars, tents, caravans, mohos and even several funky roof tents - with still more arriving at 9.45pm!
Fingers crossed for sunshine in the next 24 hours to top up the solar!
