Mondayised ANZAC in Alex

Monday 27 April

After our big and rather expensive day out (entry tix, cafe food and diesel costs) it was time for a quiet ANZAC Monday with the Websters.

Started with a golden sunrise over the ridge and turned into a gently cloudy but bright day.Popped into Alexandra for a quick shop (we’re on dinner duty) and so Louis could have a swim, then back to base for a leftovers lunch.

We all hopped in the car early afternoon and whizzed down to Alex again for a lovely autumnal walk along the Clutha River track which also doubles as the upper part of the Roxburgh Gorge Cycle Track.

The poplars and willows along the track were gloriously golden and the river was a beautiful shade of teal, offsetting the raw, rocky backdrop of the hills around Graveyard Gully. A perfect Sunday afternoon walk on a Monday!

Crossing back over the Clutha the waters were so still that they created the most gorgeous reflections of the silvery grey clouds and golden sun as it dropped in the late afternoon sky.

Back at the Websters’ place I tried out a new recipe for dinner - lamb, spinach & ricotta filo pie - which turned out to be pretty yummy. I found it on a reel, but unfortunately you can't copy & paste text from these things, so I had to capture about 6 screenshots and flick back and forth between them all to follow the recipe... I should have just wiged it, it wasn't that complicated!

Delicate pinky sunset and then we all settled in to watch “The Thursday Murder Club” which was an odd film - huge stars like Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Celia "Fart" Imrie & David Tennant, but with a weirdly made for TV vibe! Absolute tosh but quite fun.
