Saturday 16 August

Oops! Opened the freezer to get out a chilly block and discovered an exploded beer bottle which we forgot about last night - doh!

After that wee excitement I set off to the Britomart Saturday Market to get something for breakfast. It was an eclectic mix of food stalls, retro stuff, crafts, fresh produce and a huge array of Asian cutesie creatures. I was tempted to buy a Positive Poo for Louis in recognition of his post-surgery bowel movements!!! There were several bakery stalls and I chose Louis a croissant from one that had the most amazing looking stuffed croissants - strawberry, Biscoff, chocolate & matcha amongst others - but sadly it was judged to be fairly average!

Had a lovely long chat with a woman on a jewellery stall about our nomadic lifestyle - she was pretty keen to try it for a few months… her husband less so!

After enjoying our pastries back at the apartment, I got to work rearranging the furnishings to where they belonged and doing the cleaning as we had prospective tenants coming round, then left Louis watching MI4 while I had lunch at Fed Deli with Shaz, my old boss from 2degrees days. Funny how these days so many conversations are about ill health!! She is now EA to one of the Chief Execs at L'Oreal and loving her latest role. We caught up on some gossip about our old colleagues and had a lovely time - though I was distraught to find that there was no schnitzel on the lunch menu, harumph!

Brought Louis home a slice of their glorious cheesecake then we had to vacate the flat for the tenant visit. Found ourselves on the outskirts of the weekly Palestine protest, heard Neil Finn singing his support which was pretty cool, missed seeing Sara & Michael in the throng then headed back to dry off in the apartment.

Tim & Tineke came for a catch up in the evening, which was just lovely - such gorgeous friends - and we had food court takeaway dinner for second night in a row. Bumped into a stag do where the mates were all dressed as a flock of seagulls (the groom was dressed as a carton of chips!) so naturally I had to get a selfie with the lads! Then as we headed back into Quay West we bumped into Stephen Dallow who was Ella's drama teacher in BHB for many years, worked with me on the Primary School PTA and worked with Louis on the Titirangi Festival - that man sure does get around!

Surprisingly updated our food budget before bed and found we were $7 in credit which is a miracle!!!
