We Bought a New Ute!

After weeks of research, test drives and a spot of negotiation we reckoned we’d found our new ELLAMY… Louis had got a great price on a GWM Cannon that he test drove up in Auckland, we’d ruled out the Triton as too expensive and a bit bumpy, then Jake at CMG in town, counter offered with a loan car Cannon with low mileage at a price to beat Auckland’s so we put down a conditional deposit, jumped in the Pajero and headed into town to check it out.
Lovely shiny black beast with a small amount of cosmetic dings (to be remedied prior to purchase) but otherwise good as new! Before we knew it we’d signed on the dotted line and Jake went off with a to do list of jobs to get it ready for collection sometime soon!
We used the time in town to pick up a few things at Hornby and grab chicken kormas for lunch at the Hub, then head to Rolleston so Louis could swim 🏊 and I could do the laundry. 🧺
Geoff at Westoby Farm POP looked a bit disappointed when we showed up back there in our dusty old Pajero, but we reassured him we had officially bought our new towing vehicle and it was all pretty exciting!
Had a chill afternoon/evening - met the ostriches, discovered that the funky red legs were a mating attraction and the old fella was a bit over keen as it is not mating season! So funny watching them eat - just like the emus at Tree Range Farm they kinda throw the grain in the air and try to catch it! The toitoi were full of sparrows waiting to swoop in and steal all the scattered grains & seeds!
I had a twilight walk around the area with my head torch which lit up the roadworkers' reflective gear fabulously. Then we had creamy pesto chook leftovers for dinner - with the enormous cauliflower that I bought in town sitting on the table as it won’t fit in the fridge!!! Binge watched loads more Downton Abbey before starting The Night Manager S2.
