Twas the Night Before Midwinter Christmas...

Friday 12 September

A stormy Friday on the Shore gave us time to tidy up Banjo a bit, prep all our contributions to tomorrow’s Midwinter Christmas Spring Fling menu, then off to the op shops to rustle up a few more floral things for the big event. I spent most of the morning whipping up a pavlova, building an epic cauliflower cheese, and creating gallons of homemade gravy from chook stock and chook fat we'd been collecting for a few weeks!

Got back to find the tidying bug had hit Mairi and she was sorting kids stuff including dress ups so we gave Summer a princess tiara which she declined to wear for her walk with me round the block!

Late afternoon we headed south, swung by the Fernandi household to pick up all the boxes of stuff they have been storing for us while we have beem stationary in Auckland for the last 6 weeks or so… repacked the boot tetris style, quite pleased I could recall what went where! Louis took a call from Russ while we were there, he wanted to speak to Nickie but her phone was still indoors... oh how the tables have turned!!!

Whizzed over to Mt Eden and met Mike & Ayesha for dinner at Xoong. They have been managing our house for us until now and we wanted to say thank you for all their work. Xoong has the most delicious Asian fusion menu and we had a wonderful evening! 🥰
