Trading Friends!

Thursday 9 January

We traded one lot of BHB friends for another - after an early morning walk and a phone conversation about the options for the leak we set off for the airport to collect Nickie & Russell who are down here to walk one of the Abel Tasman tracks.

Wandered along Rocks Road to the Boathouse Cafe (not to be confused with the Boatshed Cafe) for coffee and divine cheese scones on the deck over the sea.

We took the scenic route home up the hill to Paddy’s Knob (no comment) which had pretty cool views of Nelson and the surrounding area.

After all that excitement we needed a cooling dip so headed to the beach at the end of the campsite - water seemed chilly, but as Michael McIntyre insists “It’s lovely once you’re in”

Took the Fernandi to their backpackers accommodation and then we hitched up Banjo and set off in search of Ashley who had experience in fixing caravan leaks. He was brilliant and with the help of a magic electrical water diviner he located the most likely source of the leak and set about sealing the area. We’ll have to wait for the next downpour to see if his fix works!

Heading back to the Tahuna Beach Holiday Park I negotiated with the reception guys to swap our powered site in the metropolis of the campsite for a windswept and far more spacious pair of unpowered sites over on the side of the estuary - soooo much nicer!

Collected the Fernandi from in town and spent a lovely evening at Banjo, cooking and eating dinner and enjoying a stroll along the beach. Wished them well for the big tramp starting tomorrow and dropped them back in town.
