Spring Sunshine on the North Shore

Monday 8 September

Too beautiful to stay inside doing blogs and stuff - so we took Summer on her new long lead to Cheltenham Beach and North Head in Devonport. She loved the freedom to trot along exploring the beach and bound at the noisy seagulls but was less enamoured with the steps up to North Head!

We had a lovely walk around the volcano and the gun emplacements then came back via the road and the beach. The gorgeous lantana flowering on the wall of one of the beachfront properties took me right back to my childhood in Portugal and made me feel like summer (the season, not the dog) really was right around the corner. Detoured to Narrowneck Beach Cafe on the way home for cheese scones, but they’d sold out so ginger crunch for me, a pie for Louis and a big bowl of water for Summer. For once she wasn't the barkiest dog around as there was a long low sleek dachshund who was making far more of a racket!

Chilled afternoon with some shopping, some onward planning and some snoozing, then another wander round the local park in the dusk before dinner in Banjo.
