Somewhere Under the Rainbow

Sunday 5 January
Spoiler alert, it was not a day of rest!
Awoke to beautiful cloud formations out back and a weird puff of low cloud over the front vines.

First outing of the day was the Sunday Market at the local A&P grounds. It was a lovely buzzy affair with heaps of local produce, fruit & veggies. We were particularly taken with the Cranky Goat cheese selection.
Next outing was on bikes - we cycled for miles because Google Maps was wrong and eventually retraced our tracks and made our way to Framingham Winery which was very lovely. While Abby, Jeremy & Louis enjoyed their tasting, I scuttled around reading all the cool song lyrics that were stencilled onto the pathways - Bowie, Lennon, Springsteen, Lou Reed, the Specials… it was an eclectic choice!

Our wine guide here was very forthright and probably needs to work on her turn of phrase... Abby had a different tasting selection to the boys and was told "compared to this Sauvignon Blanc, yours is quite boring" (translation - Abby had the supermarket mass production Sauv where the boys had the premium bottle). She then went on to advise "You might like the Chardonnay, it's not horrible" (translation - its not as oaky as some Chardonnay) and of the Framingham special mixed five grape blend she told us "it's very divisive, some think it's disgusting" (translation - it's not to everyone's taste, a bit marmite, but some love it)
From there we cycled back almost home to No.1 Family Estate which specialises in Methode Traditionelle bubbly. It was a tiny tasting room, but rather glamorous.

Next stop was Moa Brewery (again!) for more hazy & karaage chicken before we wobbled our way back to camp.
After a siesta we set up in the kitchen for platters and Ted Lasso -distracted only by the most phenomenal rainbow(s) 🌈 and sunset 🌅
