Riverside Market Double Whammy

Wednesday 22 January

Chilling out in Christchurch - some caravan chores, lunch at Riverside Market (it’s the law!) then a walk to the Botanic Gardens.

On my early morning bathroom trip on the campsite I was delighted to do a spot of twitching! First of all there was a parade of quails and their babies (many more than I captured in the photo), then I was swooped by a magpie and on the way back Mr Chook and his two fluffy knickered lady friends were busy in the shrubbery near Banjo!

We had a few camping chores to do so headed to RV Super Centre by the airport to collect some new stronger ramps, then I got suckered into buying a lightweight rotary washing line as I was a tad jealous of the ones I had seen on various campsites (luckily it was on special offer!) I didn't succumb to the lure of a coloured kettle but we did get some new chocks to go with the ramps, and an A-Frame cover to protect the towing gear when we are unhitched. Linus was fascinated by this whole new world of shopping options!!!

By now we were a bit peckish so headed into town for lunch at Riverside Market (it would be rude not to!) We paused for a second outside Amazonita where we took an iconic sisters photo in December 2022 (see me with long hair on the right!)

Linus and I went for the Slurp Ramen yakitori bowl and Louis tried out a brisket burger from a new outlet there.

Ella finished work a little early so she headed into town to collect Linus and me - we agreed to meet her at the Botanic Gardens so wandered over there via the new Convention Centre which was rather elegant.

After a wee break and another supermarket visit we headed back into town for Caroline’s penultimate night dinner at Midnight Shanghai (also part of Riverside Market) - she shouted us the chef’s choice menu and it was delicious! Thank you sis!
