Red Hut to Red House...

Wednesday 4 June
After a mostly sunny day on Tuesday, the weather packed a sad and as we left Glenorchy for Queenstown, Cromwell and finally Springvale near Alexandra, we could hardly see the beautiful lake we had driven in alongside two days earlier!
Queenstown was a little clearer with ribbons of clouds striping the hillsides, and by the tine we reached Lake Hayes and then Kawerau Gorge we were getting decent views again and even had a wee stop by the famous AJ Hackett Bungee Jump site to let the faster traffic pass us.
A brief stop in Cromwell for a toilet break and Louis to get a delicious cheese scone from the Kitchen, while I popped to the Sallies in search of more warm stuff - mostly for Abby & Jez. Spoiler alert - I found a cream woollen scarf for me instead - oops! We followed the edge of Lake Dunstan down to the dam, then went on towards Alexandra before hanging a left up to SPringvale and parking Banjo up at the Lucky Red House where I had a bite of lunch. Dropped back into Alex so Louis could swim and I could visit another op shop (lambswool sweater & merino beanie for Jez, possum merino beanie for me) and buy supplies for dinner.
Abby & Jez arrived early evening in almost total cloud and dusky darkness so would have to wait until morning for the Central Otago vistas.
We cooked a Sunday lamb roast on a Wednesday for our hosts Jonny & Debs and thoroughly pigged out before enjoying an evening of gossip and catching up.
