Out & About on the North Shore

Saturday 30 August

Calm day between the storm warnings so we set out to explore some new spots on the North Shore. First stop was the Kāuri Glen Walkway - a cool kinda viaduct crossing the Waiurutoa Stream at canopy height. It was fascinating looking out at the tops of the kāuri trees and down onto the stream, the ponga and ferns below.

It was quite a short walk so we drove onto Lake Pupuke to check that out… the pathway was a bit patchy and muddy so we came back via Milford’s main street and popped into Dear Friends for a cheese scone and a ginger crunch - both top notch!

Back at Beach Haven, Tim & the kids were embracing the rain which had set in, by playing in the pool… we politely declined Finn’s invitation to join them as Louis’ wound is not officially healed and my bouffant hair was allergic to the wet 😜

Spent the afternoon prepping & cooking a roast for Tim & the Tomkinsons (Mairi was out on a girls night) then had a great dinner with them all. Hung out with Tim, Dilligas & Summer until Mairi got home. Fun times 🥰
