Our Last Full Day in Auckland... for a While

Sunday 14 September
After our Midwinter Christmas Spring Fling came a Summer day - Summer the dog, that is. We did a bit of sorting in Banjo then took her out for a walk at Mairangi Bay. First stop was Bunnings to get a few caravan items. We took Summer in as they love dogs there - she undermined their hospitality by doing a large stinky 💩 in the garden furniture section!!!
She was much happier at the beach, shouting at seagulls and the wind! The tide was still quite far in and we walked along the coastal path to Murray’s Bay before sheltering in a tunnel from a sudden downpour then heading back.
Spotted a lions mane jellyfish a couple of metres off shore so Louis was happy he’d chosen not to take a dip here! To be fair - while the water was not freezing, the wind was blowing a hooley and would have made emerging from the water a very chilly event!
Summer was absolutely knackered after her adventures and tried to fall asleep at my feet in the car - until Louis hopped out to get something from Mitre10, at which point she started singing loudly at his disappearance! She was happier with us later when I shared the Zealandia Goat Pate dog food from Black Box with her - she and Dilligas both found it delicious.
Back at Beach Haven we installed our new purchases (carbon monoxide alarm & damp rid containers) then hung out with our hosting family before spending the evening with Tim as Mairi & the kids went out. Lily was super excited - we will be missing her 8th birthday when we head off up north so we gave her an early birthday present - a silver sequin party dress by Bardot Junior (thanks Sallies, Birkenhead)
Lovely chilled last night in town. Huge thanks to the Orrs for allowing us to park & live on their driveway for sooo long!
