Tuesday 10 June
A relaxing morning - bit of a lie in š¦while I joined my sister Caroline on a video call from the Royal Albert Hall where Holly Johnson was celebrating 40 years since Relax was released and promptly banned!
We pottered around packing up before heading off from The Camp at noon, once we knew the Lindis Pass was clear & open. The drive through Tarras, the Pass and Omarama was quite different from our previous travels through this area as snow lay on the mountains around us, and as we climbed towards the clouds and the pass, the landscape was dappled with fresh falls, all the way to the roadside. It was beautiful!
We camped up at the Ohau B Canalside near Twizel for the night and wandered over to the High Country Salmon Farm for a pre-dinner platter of 5 types of salmon with a rather delicious side of antipasto.
Back at the vans Abby made a Thai chicken curry and I stirred up a bowl of comfort food cheesy veggies and bacon (as Iām not brave enough for a Thai curry!)
We retired to our respective vans with the diesel heaters all fired up as temperatures dropped to zero Celsius⦠then just before 9pm it started to snow!
Magic! Once there was a fair bit on the ground we wrapped up warm and went outside - a first for Harley who was not sure what to make of it, or why his paws were so cold!š„¶
