Morning After the Epic Night Before

Sunday 20 April
We packed up & checked out of our cute AirBnB barn house and joined the Fernandi & Racehorse for breakfast at Tay Street Beach Kitchen then a walk on the beach.
The AirBnB was previously an old barn and the walls were decorated with framed photos and maps detailing its provenance. It was super cool that the internal walls had both polished and original native Rimu weatherboards which had been kept during its restoration, plus the coffee table and blanket box were also made of the unrestored cladding timber!
Bumped into Salli just outside the cafe so she joined us, then spotted Grannie Ann along the beach too.
Heading up the beach was lovely, and we felt smug about missing the rain, but as we turned back south the rain hit hard and we were drenched in minutes.
Said our farewells to most then headed round to Racehorse’s place to dry out, change and chat about the night before. Andrea had run round the Mount so he was drying out too!
A few hours drive back to Auckland was a perfect siesta opportunity for me 😴 and we popped up to see Auntie Jean & Uncle Don before ignoring the bad weather warning and heading out to grab dinner at Giraffe.
The storm hit just after we arrived and cleared before we left, but we actually had to move seats as the rain came through the restaurant roof and around the screen frontage! Yikes!
