Happy Christmas Adam… the one before Christmas Eve, biblically!
Started with a stinky but useful trip to the tip to get rid of lots of decluttering stuff (already dumped 6 boxes at Kaiapoi op shops in previous 2 days) for Louis & me. It’s very cathartic lobbing bags into the crusher space at the tip! And this time I didn’t wear and ping off any bracelets as I did a couple of years ago and the lovely tip lady kindly rummaged about in the trash and found it for me, with me spotting from above!
Back and showered, we scooped up Amy and headed into town for a wander and an early lunch at Riverside Market (as that’s the law). We loved the adorable felted Christmas animals for sale at the Cathedral Square market and bought a cute rainbow sheep for Sarah W & Beth. Somewhat less enamoured of the ridiculous Swarovski crystal Wicked statuettes in Ballantynes... each one cost over $1000!
Amy had a crepe and Louis and I shared a delicious patisserie Paris Brest for pudding down beside the Avon, watching the kids and families interacting with the "tuna" - the long finned eels. There were so many of them squiggled together trying to snap food from their visitors - one poor kid even got bitten, though TBF he probably asked for it as he kept trying to stroke them!!
Came home to doleful expressions on the dogs so wrangled them into the Subaru and took them for a whizz round Kaiapoi dog park. They had a lovely run around and Shadow was very good at "Down!" whenever we flung the ball for him.
They were much happier on their return and waited patiently(ish) in "Place!" for their dinner. Still feeling full of Riverside Market goodness we couldn't quite face a full meal so enjoyed a deli platter of yummies on the deck before settling in for the annual Christmas viewing of Die Hard - Yippee-ki-yay, motherf***ers!
