Matakana Market & Omaha Beach

Saturday 27 September

Only one thing to be done on a Saturday in Matakana… visit the legendary Village Farmers Market! So Louis got down the bikes and we cycled into town along the nearby cycle track and spent a happy hour or so browsing the stalls of deliciousness in the square and marvelling at the creations in the craft market. Our favourite place was of course the dog sitting service where we got to pat some cute dogs while their owners perused the market stalls!

So many fun stalls offering a variety of delicious and mostly quite boujee food stuffs, some gorgeous crafts and retro stalls and a variety of weird sh!t too!

Stopped in at Morris & James pottery on the way back - sad to see that their vast warehouse was almost empty. Such a shame this kiwi institution is closing down after almost half a century.

Met one of our caravanning neighbours back at the POP and shared stories, as you do, then had lunch & a siesta, waited for the rain to pass before going for a lovely, blustery walk on Omaha beach.

Just made it back in time to see the ducklings heading home for the night, and for the rugby where ABs beat the Wallabies, to retain the Bledisloe. Best part of the game was Caleb Clarke's dad singing the NZ national anthem, and Caleb's face when he realised... and then he scored a try, son not dad!

Job done, we had chicken curry for dinner and binged more Only Murders.
