Kidds Bush to Glendhu Bay in search of Power!

Monday 13 April

With several days of cloudy wet weather forecast and concern over the capacity of our grey water tank we decided to pack up at Kidds Bush and head back to Glendhu Bay again for a few nights on power and the use of a dump station!

Early morning light on the hills was stunning as usual, but with the cloud cover it was more golden than russet. The sheep were on the move again around 8ish and at 10.30ish we followed suit having packed up in the rain.

We battled the wind down the side of a grey and overcast Lake Hāwea, stopped in Wānaka for a swim (Louis) and a supplies shop (me) before topping up with ever more expensive diesel and pushing on to Glendhu Bay. Lunch in Banjo - I scored a whole gutted fresh sole at New World for just $5 and was very happy with that!

Got a spot on the lakeside, three sites down from Leanne & Richard who were there with friends & family, and joined them all for drinkies in their super spacious Urban caravan. So lovely meeting everyone - in the pic below, left to right, me, Wayne, Julie, Rosemary, John, Louis, Leanne & Richard - thanks for hosting us Leanne & Richard!

We had good long chats about camping & travelling & sailing. Wayne turned out to have graduated from sea sailing to land sailing and was world champion at blokarting a few years back! Julie and Wayne are mum & dad to Jonathan from The Beths so Louis had heaps to talk to them about!

I popped my head out to capture a beautiful blue hour over the lake midway through the gossiping - such a stunning light.

Then we repaired to Banjo, with a surprisingly clear starry sky overhead when I went for my evening Fitbit walk (before the clouds & rain returned) and we tumbled into bed after vague discussions about our next chunk of itinerary.
