Kaiapoi to Ocean's Edge at Conway Flat

Wednesday 3 June
Moving day - after ten days at Kaiapoi, the jobs were all done and we have a fortnight to travel & explore until we need to get back to town.
I stayed at Treehouse Retreat with Banjo, packing, clearing & cleaning while Louis headed into town to start work on the crown which ACC approved after Shadow head butted him on the beach at Christmas!
Chore of the day was defrosting the freezer which had more ice than edible contents after 18months. Sooo much ice - no wonder the freezer drawer was struggling to open and close. Also found I have stacked up about 10 day’s worth of dinner proteins in there so time to stop spending and start defrosting!!! Mostly clear now so time to restock with berries and other non-protein essentials. After the big freezer job, just time for a walk down through Sovereign Palms to Kaiapoi Lakes and back to get in some Fitbit steps - love all the dried up bullrushes around the lakes.
Once Louis was back from the dentist, we hitched up, left Treehouse Retreat under monochrome skies (having been there alone for much of our stay it had suddenly filled up a bit this week!), popped into Kaiapoi for supermarket shopping and dump station duties, swung by Woodend Beach for mail collection and farewells to Josh and the hoodlums then hit the road North. Up through Amberley, Waipara, Greta Valley & Cheviot before we hung a right out to the coast at Conway Flat.
Ocean's Edge at Conway Flat run by Heather and Bruce is a great POP right on the clifftops above the Pacific Ocean with uninterrupted views out to the horizon (next stop Chile). There were two other lots of campers here (apparently in summer they are packed in, almost 100 vehicles!) and we had a lovely welcome from both the humans and a very sociable Jack Russell who appears to belong to the place!
So glad we arrived when we did - imagine meeting this traffic jam on the road in! 🐑 🐑 🐑 I particularly love the sheep in the bottom left of the montage who appears to be sporting a Kardashian pout! And how about that gorgeous fluffy dog hitching a lift on the quad bike, leaving his collie mates to do all the real work!
Spent a fun evening having drinkies in EAGLE ONE - an enormous converted bus - with Gail and Anthony (Eagle’s owners) and Jackie & Glenn from the other moho. Burgers for dinner in Banjo then a cruisy evening catching up with blogging & admin.
