Saturday 11 October

Happy Birthday Party Day to Josh on the hottest day of the year so far! We were up and over to help out early (a little later than planned after a fruitless search for red fondant icing) then everyone started arriving around 10ish for a fun day of board games and BBQ. I was on kitchen duty and Louis took charge of the BBQ - where he was talked at by Arthur for an hour or two... that kid sure can talk!!!

Flip7 was my favourite game and I came a close second to Gamesmeister Andy! I played the risk averse option and gradually built up my points where everyone else gambled wildly on getting the seven flipped cards with the 15 point bonus!

It was so hot on the deck, but too good not to sit out there for lunch - not quite enough seats round the table so Amy grabbed a low seat on the deck and was stared at intently by Shadow who was keen to sample her lunch!!!

We all sang happy birthday and Josh cut his cake mid-afternoon then it was back to game on with an enthusiastic session of Secret Hitler... apparently Josh is always a Fascist and often Hitler, should we be worried?

After lunch and birthday cake, Louis and I excused ourselves and headed back to Banjo for a Nana nap then hopped on our bikes later and cycled back to Woodend Beach along the Pegasus Cycle Trail which was really lovely - out along the roads to start, then onto sandy forest tracks through the pines behind the dunes, probably 8-10kms in total for us.

Several party friends were still playing games, Jessie and Shadow were delighted to welcome us back, we had lunch leftovers for dinner and chatted with Grace & her partner Nick before cycling home to Banjo under sunset skies. Such a lovely day!
