Heading into a Storm?

Friday 27 June

A quiet day with little to record. We packed up and left Otepoti Dunedin around 9.30am to get on the road before the forecast high winds and heavy rain hit. Turns out the bad weather had got stuck mostly up the top of the island down as far as Otautahi Christchurch but by the time we cruised into our favourite Old Bones POP near Oamaru around noon it was beginning to get a bit greyer and the temperatures had dropped considerably. We tucked in between the hedges and cabbage trees hoping for some protection for the forecast winds.

I tried to take a walk on Kakanui beach after lunch but it was super windy and spectacularly cold so I had to hang up on my video call with Ella to save my phone hand from getting frostbite! I did find a few pretty semi-precious gemstones near the stream outlet which always make me happy.

We popped the heater on in Banjo and settled in for the rest of the day - working & blogging and listening to Marlon Williams. Made a yummy fruity chicken korma for dinner and watched the fascinating doco “James Blunt: One Brit Wonder”… it’s true! 🎶
