Sunday 9 March
After two nights off-grid at Albert Town with the bunnies, we packed up slowly and headed to Camp Hāwea. The night before when we got back from dinner a car had pulled up on our plateau and pitched a tent right in front of us - but fortunately they packed up and left before we had to ask them to decamp so we could leave!

It was a slightly chaotic check in at The Camp - they offered us a choice of 3 sites but one was already full so I popped back to the office to ask if we could have #44 instead of #45 (which was full) only to find them offering #45 to someone else! We settled into #44 with a gorgeous view of the Lake and some lovely neighbours 😊

We took lunch down to the lakeside and then inflated the kayak so I could paddle up the lake as Louis’ spotter while he did a 3.8km training swim. It was a glorious outing - the lake was stunning and there was not a cloud in the sky.
Had a wee dip then chilled out, Louis ordered pizza from the camp food truck and I made a salad and again we ate by the lakeside as the sun gradually set turning the sky the most delicate pastel shades and bathing the mountains in Alpenglow 🩷🧡
Lake Hāwea - we love you!🥰
