Thursday 11 December

A chilly morning, worth running the diesel heater for a few minutes, but not too long! Packed up under the morning sunshine and sadly moved on from the Longslip POP around 10.15am, heading up into the Lindis Pass. Farewell lovely fragrant Longslip lupins - we have loved your company!

Lupins accompanied us almost all the way until the final kilometre or two up to the summit, and then picked up again on the Otago side as we trundled on towards Tarras.

Obligatory coffee stop at Tarras - plus a reuben pretzel sarnie for Louis and a ginger crunch for me - before pushing on down the side of Lake Dunstan to Alexandra.

Parked up at the NZMCA for an hour or two while Louis had a swim and I walked down to Sallies and New World - a Christmas top from the op shop and dinner ingredients from the supermarket.

Dragged Banjo up the hill to Springvale and along McArthur Ridge Road to Jonny & Debs’ place.

Spent a lovely evening with them catching up, cooking and eating our favourite creamy dijon chicken and watching wild weather blast up the valley - gusty winds, thunder, lightening and hail!!! Jonny and I managed to walk up the road to the model planes club without getting tooooo wet - you can see their place on the intermediate horizon in the wide landscape photo just above - what a spot!
