Saturday 27 December
Another busy busy day - Louis finished cleaning Banjo, and I continued clearing garden stuff - cabbage tree leaves get EVERYWHERE! Had lunch (more leftovers!) on the deck after Louis had been to Rangiora for a swim, then we hitched up the trailer and took all the garden rubbish to the tip. First pic - before and after - clearing the stones and dirt which had extended into the roadway. Second pic - before and after clearing tons of cabbage tree leaves from the pathway to the garage. Jessie and Shadow got bored of all this work so kept them busy with a Kong for Shadow and a maze plate of kibble for Jessie!
The trailer was absolutely full of garden rubbish - mainly cabbage tree leaves, but also a hefty chunk of weeds pulled from the stones out front. Sadly cabbage tree leaves, like harakeke flax, do not compost well so they just go in the rubbish part of the tip and cost almost 3 times as much as green waste to dispose of. Following Mr Kerr on our way out, we were very happy that his name turned out to be Zayne and not Wayne!!!
Had a lovely plattery dinner on the deck

Then wrangled the hoodlums to the beach for an evening walk - all went well until Shadow and his sand mask head-butted Louis as he tried to pop his lead on 🙄 Ouchie! Onshore wind had sent hundreds of small jellyfish onto the sand to their death - luckily they had dried out and appeared to have lost their sting.
