Driving home for Christmas

Thursday 18 December

Only a week until Christmas - so we are taking a leaf out of Chris Rea’s songbook, heading slowly towards Woodend Beach. (When I wrote this, I did not know that Chris Rea was to die just 4 days later, making this rather poignant)

Watched the racehorses galloping then walked down to U-Bake to get coffee and a pie for Louis - I was still too full from Saikou to contemplate any of their delicious bakery offerings.

Louis decided to have a go at clipping his own hair as I was busy blogging in Banjo - I left him to it for about 5 minutes but it was an absolute disaster and I had to step in to try and put it right. To be fair, my effort was pretty slack, but at least it wasn't as bad as his attempt!!!

Packed up and headed north, via Ashburton for a lunch stop in their gorgeous domain, and set up at Weedons NZMCA (which was quite busy, at least 4 other Snowy Rivers, and our blue bus mates from Phar Lap all parked up).

Whizzed off to do chores - caravan shopping and food supplies - got the giggles in Bunnings - pets are welcome in store but TBH they are usually dogs on leads rather than bunnies in vintage prams!

Got over excited when I found a Wasgij puzzle to assist with at the NZMCA before we had dinner in Banjo (do you like my matching keyring???) and had a chill evening ahead of an early departure in the morning… 😴
