Doozy of a Day...

Friday 23 May

What a day! Louis & I went off to the aquatic centre - him to swim and me to shower & wash my hair… except I forgot my shampoo & conditioner so drove back to Banjo. As I went to lock up after myself, somehow the lock barrel came away with my key!!! In a panic I jammed it back in but I must have put it in upside down as the whole thing jammed - no locking or unlocking and key refused to leave. Locksmith was unavailable (due to a funeral) so Super Jez to the rescue. After a Snowy forum plea for advice and a lot of trial & error for Jez, the lock & handle were removed & we took it to a local joinery company recommended by the locksmith - between them & Jez the barrel and key were extracted and all was sorted - phewwww!

Louis got his swim, I finally got my shower & hair wash (and we spent a while playing with Alfie the Reeves turtle at the Aquatic Centre reception) then we did a last food shop before leaving Gore for the Catlins.

It was a beautiful convoy drive down there and we arrived at the Waikawa NZMCA late afternoon - greeted by a kereru ❤️

Unhitched, checked in then whizzed over to Curio Bay in time for sunset 🌅 Wow, what a beautiful place and a glorious sunset. No penguins in sight, but we saw a porpoise in the bay and a sea lion (?) snoozing on the grass.

We went to the top of the headland to capture the dying light of the day - the views from here are epic.

Dinner in the moho and planning for the weekend’s exploring. I think I love this new area 🥰
