Tuesday 20 May

Woke to find ourselves surrounded by other campers - 18 vans in total plus 3 spaces… unsure how they fit in the 26 listed as the site’s capacity!?!

Jeremy & Louis wanted to swim so I persuaded them to detour to Liquid Laundromat (my regular stomping ground) to wash the bed linen (and visit the op shops) - it was super busy and I was lucky to get a big washer and big dryer.

Swung by the cheese sauce shop (Frozen Direct) on the way back - it sells other stuff but we love the Tatua 1litre of cheese sauce for $8.70 which you can’t buy anywhere else!

After late lunch at the campsite we lured Abby out from work to take up the challenge of Baldwin Street, the steepest street in the world.

Also swung by the famous gothic, gingerbread railway station at golden hour which was pretty impressive - both inside and out. The marble mosaic work of the central ticketing hall was stunning.

Arrived back at the NZMCA site to find Harley had helped himself to dinner from the bin (a diet of mandarin peel and soggy salad!) Our dinner was somewhat tastier -

BBQed lamb chops with creamy kale & leeks plus baby green beans - Day 2 of the Deborah Diet done & dusted!
