Cold Snow, Hot pools

Friday 13 June
Despite a night of rain, the snow remained, but sadly so did the clouds.
Drove into town on a coffee run and today Greedy Cow was open… and absolutely heaving! Great food in the cabinet and quite a buzz. Three coffees to go took a while but apparently well worth the wait.
Louis drove Abby’s back to the Moho as she was working, and Jez & I walked back along the lakeside along semi-cleared paths. Along the way we met the snow shoe guy who has been past us several times leaving amazing monster footprints in the snow. He had two dogs with him - a Healer and a Huntaway/GSP cross - I spotted those GSP genes immediately!
Louis and I went for another lakeside wander after lunch and I came back via the second half of the NZMCA park in the last picture above - 3-4 months ago we were camping where now it was solid snow!
It was that weird winter weather when you felt both cold from the outside but sweltering from the inside because of all the layers and the effort of walking in/on snow.
Abby finished work a little bit early as it was a Friday and we took ourselves with BookMe deal tickets to the Tekapo Springs hot pools for a bit of R&R and a good hot soak.
The Midwinter Festival we’d seen advertised was a bit of a damp squib so back to the Moho for dinner. Abby made an amazing Thai chicken curry, but as that is now my thing I had a bowl of pure comfort food - veggies & bacon swathed in cheesy sauce!
