Chores, Dinner and some sad news

Friday 2 May
Friday was chores day in the rain. The lake we were parked in at Treehouse Resort was gradually draining away but you still could not leave without gumboots or a car! First stop in town was to drop off the Pajero for its annual service (we got to drive around again in the cobalt blue courtesy Subaru like true Westies for most of the day) then over to Papanui so Louis could swim at Graham Condon Pools. I splashed my way round to the Awanui blood service guys for my 3 monthly blood test and was actually happy to wait almost an hour because at least it was warm & dry inside!
Quick Kmart visit then lunch at Coffee Culture (fast becoming our favourite cafe chain down south - their bagels are incredible and I am not generally a fan) before it was time for our annual skin checks (Louis passed, I had a couple of “keep an eye on these” marks).
Another Mitre10 visit to check out generators and other camping stuff, then Louis dropped me at Liquid Laundromat near Papanui so I could get our dirty dark clothing washed before he ran out of grundies (nobody wants that), and he went to trade the blue beast for the newly serviced Pajero.
After the briefest of turnarounds and quick changes, we collected Ella & Josh to take them out to First Table dinner at Dux Dine. We had a 5pm table and for the service fee of $12 all the food for the evening was half price - yay! The menu was pretty extensive and we all found something delicious and different to order. I declined dessert as I was super full - but then had a sample of everyone else's puds instead...
It was a lovely evening but very sad as we learned of the death of Val, Josh’s paternal grandmother. All the Whitefields are in our thoughts at this time 💔
