Thursday 4 September
A relaxing start to the day for me, but not so much for Louis. I got another lovely massage with Ty and came away smelling gorgeous and feeling soothed and chilled.
Finn came up with the quote of the day - a pair of new guys showed up to replace the wooden weatherboards which were showing signs of rot and Finn asks loudly "Do our builders have vaginas?"!!! Turns out they didn't but some do...
Mairi, Finn, Bonnie the gardener and I had leftover birthday cheesecake in the sun for elevenses and Summer came to hang out with us on the deck - very civilised.
Meanwhile, Louis was whizzing around down south, sorting out some house stuff, helping Helen with more metal and glue for her sculptures, taking Amy to the optician, and generally being useful.
By the time he got back I had cleaned & polished inside Banjo and just had floors to sweep & wash then linen laundry 🧺 to do.
After a siesta and several walks to the laundromat & back we joined Lily and her cheerleaders at Bunnings for a Family Father’s Day event where she was going to be singing in the school choir 🎶
The place was absolutely packed with grandparents, parents, aunties, uncles and kids - I think we were the only ones there without blood relations! There were activities for the kids, goody bags, a sausage sizzle, foster dogs to pet, and best of all... a fire engine! Finn spent forever climbing all over the cab, strapping himself in, pushing buttons, switching on torchlights, trying on a helmet and generally making the FENZ guys slightly nervous with his enthusiasm! Especially when he picked up the old style telephone with a direct line to HQ!!! Lily's choir singing was cute, featuring Seasons of Love - they did well, as I cannot for the life of remember how many minutes there are in the opening lyrics!
Back home afterwards Dilligas waylaid me in the back yard with smooches and a roly poly or two…then followed me back to Banjo, scooted underneath then after a few prowls back and forth, got up the courage to clamber carefully up the steps and join us inside 🖤 It was too adorable - I love and miss my dear pusskin all the time we are away, but so glad he has made himself at home with the Orrs! 🐈⬛
