Chilling out at Albert Town

Tuesday 3 February

Working day for Russ so the rest of us kept ourselves busy for the morning… Louis & his swim wife Nickie swimming several kms at the Recreation Centre and me stocking up at New World. Swung by the best bakery in town on the way back, to pick up a crunchy, crumbly, perfect croissant 🥐 from Pembroke Patisserie.

The ducks and a few sparrows and chaffinches joined us for lunch back at Albert Town.

Louis & Russ set off cycling to Hāwea after a siesta and I took a walk up over the cycle paths, above the River Clutha, while Nickie chilled with her book. Albert Town is where the river narrows & the tall trees grow in the tall narrow pic below. I was shocked at how autumnal the bushes and plants were - beautiful Mother Nature providing berries, thistles, rose hips and a perfect white flower.

Amazing views for us cyclists & walkers as the skies cleared a fair bit.

Lamb chops for dinner then we stepped in to rescue 4 adventurers who had ridden the rapids and fast flowing Clutha down from The Outlet in rubber rings, only to find they’d left their car keys back in their second car parked at The Outlet!

Louis drove one of the guys back up there and Russ lent them a picnic rug as they were freezing from their river ride, and the chill of the evening! Note to self - sort car keys when we do this on Thursday!!!
