Back in Albert Town - feeling like locals!

Friday 7 March
An early start to get back to Wānaka for the A&P show on Saturday. We were warned campsites might be busy so wanted to nab a spot at Albert Town ASAP. Leaving Glenmac Farm in the golden morning light was a beautiful moment - but it was still mighty cold!
The drive up the Waitaki Valley and past the Lakes - Waitaki, Aviemore & Benmore was stunning and we will definitely have to stop in this corridor one day. We joined the Lindis Pass road at Omarama and came through the pass for the third time, but first time heading West. Another first came at one of the very helpful McKeowns gas stations - Louis filled up the Pajero with diesel and then asked me to pull Banjo a couple of metres forward so that he could top up the diesel tank for the heater at the back - this was literally the first time I had ever pulled the caravan and I was a little over excited!

It was a smooth run with a quick stop at Tarras and then we rumbled across the rickety old red Luggate Bridge into the Wānaka district.
Arrived at Albert Town just after 11am to a pretty empty campsite and nobody in our old spot so we promptly reclaimed it! I had a quick dibble in the Clutha and reckoned it was a couple of degrees colder than February, a diagnosis Louis confirmed after his training swim in Lake Hāwea later that afternoon.
Chill evening with a spot of laundry for me (good ole Liquid Laundromat again) while Louis worked on the next video & music. Let’s hope tomorrow is as sunny & lovely for the A&P Show!
