Packed up super early and pulled Banjo over to DC&B to get done warranty work sorted while we hopped on a flight to Auckland, quite literally flying into the eye of a storm - tropical cyclone Tam.
Fortunately she’d been slightly delayed on her journey south so after Amy collected us from the airport we checked into Quay West then managed to rush around getting stuff sorted like a leg & brow wax for me, dental hygienist visit for Louis, collecting wedding outfit from the Fernandi (with cup of tea and a catch up with Nickie for me).
We paid a quick visit to Helen who has been in hospital with very severe sciatica pain and then had a lovely dinner with Louis’ sister Sara & 75% of her family - and Albi the golden doodle.
It was strange being back in Tamaki Makaurau over 4 months after we set off on our South Island odyssey with Banjo - it was at once so familiar and yet so different.
Cousin Ian had kindly lent us his apartment in town - being 21 storeys up by the waterfront made us very aware of the storm as it howled around us shaking the windows!
