Epic Sunrise and a spot of Cycling
Saturday 11 April With Cyclone Vaianu threatening much of the North Island and down the East coast of the South Island, we remained sheltered here at Lake Hāwea - but the atmospheric pressures of the storm definitely affected the skies all over the country. We were fortunate to be woken by a glorious fiery sunrise which lit Lake Hāwea in an incredible array of vibrant pinks, oranges, golds & yellows - wow! Back to Glenmac and a Soggy Cycle Ride!
Monday 30 March Looked out the window on awaking and it was white all around - white skies, white mohos & campers and white Oamaru stone buildings! We packed up & pulled out of the freedom camp carpark comfortably before the 10am deadline and set course for Glenmac again. Loved this easy park-up and was very taken with the EV charging posts which were wrapped to look like local buildings and landmarks. From Oamaru the journey was grey & mizzly as we headed back up the Waitak
